Have a pyramid Osage that I want to be done by Christmas but I am behind the curve so to speak on it I am afraid. I work on it as I have time.

Happy New Year Bow Men.

The New one here. Getting it ready for a final sanding then a good burnishing. 50@28" a relatively tight ring stave but a nice one. Shoots hard and right where you look with a 50-55 spine POC arrow with a 160grn point. Cut this stave off the farm i hunt a bunch.

This bow is done and ready to get a new owner for 2022 shooting. Shoots well with a variety of spined arrows and tip weights. Hard shooter. Got to love that Hedge Apple.

Hi,
your bow grip looks really nice andI think it is also very effective.
The draw arms of the bow bend a little more at the beginning, near the grip and the are a little stiffer at the ends.
Do you think this is good for a faster bow?

This bow is quite a bit OVERBUILT. In most cases if your to use a bow as the tool it is to have stiffer tips is good idea. Is it faster? Thats a tough one to answer. The world record flite selfbows are Osage at 50lbs are 67" long with reflexed tips. Doing that to the tips makes them stiff so, they are fast or they would not shoot so far.
If you making you bow bend in the last 6" of the limb I would say in general your giving some power back. That does not say that the bow is slow or its not fast, just that perhaps maybe you gave a little back.

In that photo I only have it drawn about 25-26" as well. Guy took pic a little early It looks. I did not want to pull it to far back, I suspect the tips flatten out more at 27". The bow is tillered about a full 1/4" positive tiller as well so this does look different than an even tillered bow at full draw or near full draw.

Here in USA only a few of us builders make selfbows in this manner. Arvin Weaver is one of them. His bows have won just about every 3D IBO National for last 12 yrs. So they shoot well. I think last year I had four of mine in the Finals and 2020 six of them in Final Round. They are just a little more forgiving with respect to arrow spine and if built right they are strong as any selfbow design. The American Selfbow I call them.

Helped a guy split 30-40 staves of Osage from a 60ft tree. Nice looking stuff. I get a photo of it soon when I am back from Hog hunting in south of USA.

Winter is Osage cutting time. This tree was 50ft tall and blew over in storm. Lots of good billets and staves. Have another that is leaning and down about the same size. Lots of bark and sap wood peeling!
