Ever since I‘ve accessed to PA, I dreamed of attending the TClassic and meeting everyone. I also own CDs from Will Harrisson and a book from Jimmy B.

Any particular reason why you use edge grain for this?

Known them both. The former is a good fellow, the other well he OK I guess.

Thomas usually if you take time tillering you can get some to stay. It depends on the quality of wood and how much early growth it has in stave. More late growth will give you better reflex. Even if holds to even limbs thats great result

Have the bow out of form now and almost ready to tiller. Floor tiller is complete. Will put tip overlays on it to start the formal tiller process. Looking OK for now. Should make a nice shooter with a shelf so arrow can sit on it while hanging up.

Hedge~

Got tips on bow and have some heat alignment to do as the string is favoring the off shelf side. Should not be very difficult to align the limbs with some heat on the form. then on with finishing tiller. Floor tiller is complete as well. it is 65 inches from sting grooves and 67" overall length.

First brace after floor tiller. Still heavy. In no hurry as I have working in forest now.

This bow is getting last coat of finish today. It has a very interesting date on it.

It is gong to US Army Combat Veteran from the War on Terror. So, the date will have some meaning for him. Twisted up a nice 8125 BCY string for it and it shoots extremely well 40-45 spine arrows and 145grn points. Bows hols about 2.75" of reflex after getting it shot in.

I use a sealer then Tru Oil and usually go with poly over top if it will be in the woods a lot. I have to get a finished profile of this one strung up. Its a killer, shoots flat and fast.

Won't go to more draweight? 45# is ,maybe, not enough for you,i assume. I'm going to my 6ties,and so is my draweight,about 60#+.
As you are ,maybe,much younger than me, I'd like to see some Bows of yours exceeding the "Common Comfort Zone".

Im about sixty. The man who wanted a bow had picked the weight he wanted not myself. Heavy bows are easier to build to me. Very easy to build 60-70lb Osage bows, not nearly as hard as building a very good performing 25lb Osage Bow.

I have no reason to shoot any bow over 55lbs. The are no Mammoths or Dragons left.

Right,absolutely, for me it's Dogwood (Cornus Sanguinea+ Cornus Mas) ,never did anything with Osage.Anyway I learned most by building Bows for my sons and neighborhood-children.
Reliable and performing is ...uuuh... not the easy way..

Nja,some reason is fun ,another reason is: Stoneage-Bows out of the (Lake of Constance) Bodensee-Area,where I live,always come out,correctly made, between 50-65#. I am doing only Stoneage-Bows.
And,around the Lake is a great variety of elaborate bows,all existing at the same time. From very flat to ELB-style,thousands of years old.. no Olympic or Sports-Bows..
To the mammoths and dragons... : hmmm,nay,not even here in southern Germany
